Overview - Install Sample Environment on Your Local PC

You can download and install the Sample Environment for the SAS Press book Building Web Applications with SAS/IntrNet©: A Guide to the Application Dispatcher using the steps outlined here.

For additional help installing the SAS© software components (vs. the Sample Environment for the book), you may want to search the SAS support site.

1. Install the SAS CGI Tools.

2. Configure the SAS Load Manager.

3. Download and install the Web Server Components of the Sample Environment.

4. Set Up the SAS Application Server.

5. Update the Application Broker Configuration File.

6. Download and install the SAS Server Components of the Sample Environment.

7. Set Up Advanced (and optional) examples:
   1. Edit htmSQL files to point to your Share Server (Chapter 13)
   2. Define SMTP Mail Server (Chapter 19)
   3. Enable spawning of a separate SAS session (Chapter 19)
   4. Download/Install Web Services Application (Chapter 21)

These instructions assume the following:

• you are installing the sample environment on a Windows PC
• you are using IIS as your web server
• you are accessing these instructions from that PC.
